Not the be all, end all I was expecting. I haven't written a review of all 100 titles in this series because it's just too tedious. I can say it is a series that I enjoyed to the fullest! This series is exciting, uplifting, and fun to read. I found myself anxiously waiting for the next book. Aer-ki Jyr is and excellent writer with a great imagination! If you love Sci-Fi, you will love this series! I highly recommend that you try this series and, enjoy!
Nice way to end the series, even if it isn't exactly over.
This series is now 152 books long and I really look forward to the 153. Once your finished with the origin series keep going. The saga continues.
Well, it is over. I have read all 100 episodes. I purchased around 87 of them until I discovered they went on unlimited and I could borrow them. This is the preferred method if you have not read my earlier posts on the subject. Now comments on content of the close out episode No deviation from the style and approach taken in the last 99 editions. As I read the book I thought to myself that he is going out the same way he came in to the project. There is no great payoff in the final edition or significant foreshadowing. The last several episodes seemed rushed including this one. It is as if he wanted to get it over so he could move on to the next "phase" as he puts it in his post story notes. The series deserved better than that and so do the loyal readers A.K.A. CUTOMERS. There are no 'cutaways" to the other major characters to get their reactions to the first contact with the "Vit", The last several books were just too focused on the battle for the Sol System without any insight into the reactions of Davis, Paul, or the others. I think he let the story get away from himself in the earlier episodes and ran out of room at the end of the series to end it with the potential that was possible. So the good guys win - I think we saw that one coming.
I am not a author so I applaud AKJ for his overall imagination and discipline to bring this story in as he did. I did like his serialization of the story, It filled in the gaps in my reading as I waited for full length books to come available from other authors. However, overall about 12 to 16 of these books from the 100 could have told the story just as well. The rest just provided spreadsheet data that I needed to follow the storyline. The old saying applies, "You can't tell the players without a program" or the psionics without a spreadsheet. This was particularly true in the final battle scenes. This approach demands way too much from the reader. I do not want to refer to my "notes" to enjoy a story and the author made me wade thru the final episode searching for definitions in my head for what he was writing.
I said I am not an author, I am a consumer of the Science fiction genre. I read the masters growing up and have been at if hard core for 47 years reading many hundreds into the thousands of books. My library is a Who's Who in Sci-Fi Weber, Flint, Stirling, Ringo, Drake, Asimov, Heinlein, Lem, Smith, and so many more. I will buy the next books because I have invested my time in this series but this is a B+ for effort and a C- in execution.
